Bob Turns 35!

Today is Bob's birthday! We are celebrating with his favorite food tonight- Italian.

Marin's First Quote

.........................it's not the case.

I realize Marin hasn't been a big part in this blog so far, so I would like to report that she has officially said her first word: "Mama". Her favorite time to use it is when she's really tired and wants to go nigh-night. Which, by the way, we need to work on. Last night she fell quietly asleep in Bob's arms (after 6 oz. of formula), but she usually needs to be rocked to sleep. How did this happen?? Ellery always fell asleep in her crib (it must of been the numerous baby books we read) . It's interesting how the second child is raised so differently. We are more relaxed, Marin's schedule is more relaxed, she is more relaxed, except when she is placed in her crib to fall asleep on her own. This is when I would like to be more like my friend Audra. The ultimate scheduler. Not only does she schedule everything, she KEEPS to the schedule. It's truly an amazing thing to watch, even more amazing to see her daughter, Vivi, fall asleep within seconds of being placed in her crib and stay asleep! Maybe, I could find 20 minutes to begin reading those baby books again. Who am I kidding, that is not going to happen! I'm sure Marin will become an independent little girl soon enough. I think I'm actually enjoying this rocking thing. She is my last babe and I'm not going to have the chance again!

Translations

How can you correct a 2 year old's speech when it sounds so cute? Plus, is it really a bad sign when she's actually adding syllables?

Here is a list of common mispronounced words:

Oatmameal = Oatmeal

Tomangos = Mangos

Wambaid = Bandaid

Boobiful = Beautiful

Goo-goo Gaa-gaa = Marin talking

To blog or not to blog

I have to give props where props are due. The main reason I have decided to start blogging is due to my best-friend Sheila. She has a wonderful blog that every new mom should read. www.shemoney.blogspot.com She is really the best writer I know and I can't get enough of her Jamie posts/pictures.
My goal at the beginning was to post once a week. That, however, is not happening. My new goal is to post once a month. I think I can live with that. They say is you write down a goal, you actually have a much better chance of reaching it. I'll let you know if that's the case.

Potty Training, Who Knew

Who knew potty training can actually last a year or so? We thought we had Ellery potty trained in just 2 days. Naive first timers. The "accidents" continue to happen occasionally until 4-6 years old!! Occasionally, in the LeMire household means pretty much daily. Pee and poop rule our world.
"I made a cow come out of my butt with my magic wand", Ellery said yesterday. I'm hoping this is not a cause for worry?
Most children look at clouds and imagine different shapes and faces. Ellery looks at her poop instead.
"Look, I made a crocodile with my poop"
"Look, I made a mountain with my poop"

Bob takes Ellery hiking and has taught her to pee in the woods. She has come to believe that this means it's OK to pee and poop in our yard (front and back). Luckily, our neighbors are pretty cool.

How many times can a person write poop in 1 blog post?

Grandma Beth and Grandpa Joe are coming!

There are just too many cute, funny, wild, and just plain wrong quotes coming from our house lately. My husband Bob and 2 1/2 year old daughter, Ellery are mostly to blame. I feel the need to document these quotes, so they don't become forgotten. So, the LeMirequotes.blogspot.com blog is born.
My mom and step-father really need to find a hobby, other than going to the Peppermill. 2 weeks ago, Ellery was pretending to talk with Grandpa Joe on the phone-"Grandpa Joe, what are you doing? Are you at the Peppermill?". She is already aware that they spend a lot of their newly retired time gambling. Oh, and acquiring free stuff.
Mom called yesterday morning and asked what we were doing this weekend. Nothing, of course, except trying to survive in our not-so-new 2 kiddo world. They headed towards Denver an hour later and should be here later this afternoon. Driving 16 hours from Reno. While on bedrest during my second pregnancy, Ellery and Grandma Beth became inseparable. 4 months together is a long time. When Ellery found out that Grandma Beth and Grandpa Joe would arrive after her afternoon nap the excitement in her eyes was undeniable. "Momma, I'm so excited that Grandma Beth is coming to visit me". So sweet she is, sometimes.
